چکیده

We study asymptotics of parameter estimates in conditional heteroscedastic models. The estimators considered are those obtained by minimizing certain functionals and those obtained by solving estimation equations. We establish consistency and derive asymptotic limit laws of the estimators. Condition under which the limit law is normal is studied. Further, bootstrap for these estimators is discussed. The limiting distribution of the estimators is not necessary always normal, and we present a real data example to illustrate this. *Correspondence: Snigdhansu Chatterjee, School of Statistics, University of Minnesota, 313 Ford Hall, 224 Church Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455, USA; E-mail: [email protected].

Estimation in a class of nonlinear heteroscedastic time series models

Abstract: Parameter estimation in a class of heteroscedastic time series models is investigated. The existence of conditional least-squares and conditional likelihood estimators is proved. Their consistency and their asymptotic normality are established. Kernel estimators of the noise’s density and its derivatives are defined and shown to be uniformly consistent. A simulation experiment conduct...

Robust Estimation of Conditional Mean by the Linear Combination of Quantile Regressions

In this paper, we propose a new robust estimator for regression problems in the form of the linear combination of quantile regressions. The proposed robust regression estimator is helpful for the conditional mean estimation especially when the error distribution is asymmetric or/and heteroscedastic, where conventional robust regressions yield considerable bias to the conditional mean. First we ...

Filtering With Confidence: In-sample Confidence Bands For GARCH Filters

There is vast empirical evidence that for many economic variables conditional variances and covariances change over time. Given the importance of heteroscedasticity in finance and macroeconomics1 it is not surprising that estimation of the time-varying volatility has attracted substantial attention in the literature. As any time-varying parameter, volatility can be modelled both with observatio...

Specification Tests for Nonlinear Dynamic Models

We propose a new adequacy test and a graphical evaluation tool for nonlinear dynamic models. The proposed techniques can be applied in any setup where parametric conditional distribution of the data is specified, in particular to models involving conditional volatility, conditional higher moments, conditional quantiles, asymmetry, Value at Risk models, duration models, diffusion models, etc. Co...

Empirical estimates for various correlations in longitudinal-dynamic heteroscedastic hierarchical normal models

In this paper, we first define longitudinal-dynamic heteroscedastic hierarchical  normal  models. These models can be used to fit longitudinal data in which the dependency structure is constructed through a dynamic model rather than observations. We discuss different methods for estimating the hyper-parameters. Then the corresponding estimates for the hyper-parameter that causes the association...
